ODEN is traditional Japanese food- stewing some ingredients in soy sauce-flavored broth in a big pot.
It is one of the most popular foods as a winter dish.
The ingredients varies such as, boiled egg, DAIKON radish, GYUSUJI- beef tendons, HANPEN- steamed fish paste mixed with ground yam, ATSUAGE- deep fried thick TOFU, deep fried fish past, KONNYAKU- a hard jelly made from the starch of devil’s tongue, SHIRATAKI- noodle made from the starch of devil’s tongue, CHIKUWA- tube-shaped fish paste, potatoes.
Recently, ODEN sold at convenience stores is getting popular.
At convenience stores, you can select ingredients by yourself.
I bought them at a convenience store.
Those are my choices.
DAIKON has absorbed the broth well, HANPEN is very soft, SHIRATAKI and ATSUAGE are very healthy, GYUSUJI itself has made good soup stock.
Mustard is often put on ingredients.
