Today is SEIJIN-NO-HI. It is Coming-of-Age day and one of the national holidays. This holiday celebrates adulthood for new adults who turned 20 that year.
Each municipality have the ceremony for them. When they participate in that ceremony,
many new adults wear Japanese traditional clothes named KIMONO(着物). Recently most of us don’t wear traditional clothes in general, so you have a good chance to see people wearing beautiful KIMONO today. Especially women’s KIMONO, which has long sleeves named FURISODE(振袖), is very beautiful.
